It was somewhat fitting that it was Liverpool's famous 12th man who emerged triumphant during a prestigious fan club tournament held in China at the weekend.

Beijing Anfield 12th man club - as aptly a named Reds representative as you are likely to find for supporters - saw off the challenge of the fan groups from Real Madrid, Barcelona and AC Milan to claim their first major trophy in the final round of a four-week tournament in China.

Skipper Zishen Wang grabbed the winning goal with a long distance effort that secured a 3-2 victory over Milan and ensured the Reds finished the competition with a 100 per cent record.
The organiser of the event had invited the four sets of fans to the tournament after issuing co-branded credit cards in China bearing each of the clubs' name and crest.

The Chinese Reds had beaten Barca and Real Madrid in the first two rounds but needed to claim victory over Milan to lift the cup due to the Italians' superior goal difference.
Kai Feng got the Chinese Reds off to a flier with an early opener but Milan restored parity prior to half-time before taking a 2-1 lead soon after.
The Reds needed some inspiration and in true Istanbul-style they managed to pull off a superb second-half recovery, with Ziyue Chen leveling from a tight angle before Wang drilled home the winner.
As the full-time whistle sounded, the players indulged in wild Ataturk-esque celebration, singing a host of Liverpool anthems before proudly holding the trophy aloft.
Tournament results: FC Barcelona Fans' Club 2-4 Beijing Anfield 12th Man Club
